Empowerment of women through commercial forestry.
Commercial forestry to improve rural incomes and climate change. "Sawlog Production Grant Scheme" is a project run by the Government of Uganda with European Union and Food and Agricolture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. It is a project in 3 phases, (third phase started in 2015 till 2020) that aims to support small, medium and large scale of holders to establish commercial forest plantation for production of timiber, poles and fuel wood. The project is open to both women and men, but most of the holders are Women. "We started the project with men but most of them took the money to drink, so we decided to continue alone" said one of the holders.
