Early evening in the rice-growing agricultural heartlands of northeast Thailand as a farmer herds cattle down a track towards the setting sun. Despite rapid industrialisation, agriculture remains the backbone of the Thai economy with around 50% of the population still working the land.
A vendor sells sacks full of lentils, rice, corn and spices at an outside stall near Durbar Square in the old part of Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. Despite growing numbers of more modern shops in this city, stalls and traditional markets are common place, selling every type of food as wekk as tourist handicrafts.
