Jonas Gratzer

Jonas Gratzer

Jonas Gratzer was born in 1981 and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. His career began in 2006 assisting photographers including Jonas Karlsson, a contract photographer for Vanity Fair.

It was in 2009 that Jonas decided to relocate from Sweden to Thailand's capital Bangkok where his career as a freelance photojournalist was established. Since calling Asia home, Jonas is regularly on assignment throughout South East Asia and the Indian sub-continent completing assignments for a range of clients. Jonas's work is regularly featured in Scandinavian daily newspapers and magazines while his photographs have been published in a range of international publications his work was included in slideshow projections at Angkor Photo Festival. He was also a nominee for the ICP best young photographer award in 2011.

The core themes Jonas explores with his photography are issues of human rights, environmental exploitation and political upheaval. When not on assignment, Jonas is further investigating stories of human trafficking throughout South East Asia and the Indian Sub-continent. His commitment to these issues have led to collaboration with ECPAT an international anti-trafficking organisation. He hopes this personal projects will become a book in the near future.
