Baobabs and Stars Workshop – There is arguably no other tree that shouts “you are in Africa” like the Baobab tree. These huge ancient trees with their torn and weathered appearances make for some awe-inspiring photography. Tree limbs that remind you of hands held up giving rise to its scientific name Adansonia digitata – digitata refers to the limbs that look like digits and Adansonia refers to the French botanist Michel Adanson whom first described the tree in 1749.
Their massive size dwarfs everything around them and when you are up close and personal next to one of these trees there’s something spiritual and moving about them. Add into that mix the opportunity to photograph these trees at night with brilliant views of the milky way and stars is what sets this photographic safari apart from everything else.
We have chosen the best possible colder winter months to photograph our nightscapes and also coincided with the best possible moon phases. The colder winter air is hugely beneficial for better star photography and during the winter months the milky way is at its best.
Our dates are also carefully chosen to enable us to work with the moon.
On this workshop we will share our methods and techniques of how to photograph subjects at night.
