Consent management
The check happens at download, not from memory
A consent is only useful if it is consulted at the moment it matters. Say what a set of images is for, and the platform tells you which of them are covered for that, which are not, and who in each photograph is the reason.
States of a consent

Downloads allowedSigned, and today is inside its dates
For the usages and countries ticked
Expired
Downloads blockedPast the expiry date on the form
Stops on the expiry date, not when somebody notices
Revoked
Downloads blockedWithdrawn by the person who signed it
Stops from the moment it is withdrawn
Superseded
Downloads blockedReplaced by a newer form from the same person
The newer consent applies; this one is kept as history

What a record says
Four things, each of them a question somebody will eventually ask you.

What they agreed to
The usages ticked on the form — Facebook and LinkedIn but not print, or whatever the person actually chose. Held per usage, not as one yes.

Where it applies
The countries the consent covers. An image cleared for one territory and not another is a state the platform holds rather than a caveat in somebody’s notes.

Per person, not per file
A photograph of three people needs three consents. The file is only clear for a usage when every person in it is clear for that usage.

Kept, not overwritten
A consent that ends is never deleted. What was true in 2024 is still answerable in 2029, which is the point of keeping a record at all.
Download check
Say what the images are for, and see what you can use
Choose the usages you are downloading for, and every file in the selection is checked against every person in it. Files that are fully covered are marked as such. Files that are not tell you which usage is missing and which person it is missing for.
- Covered and not covered, shown per file and per usage
- Expand a file to see each person in it and what they agreed to
- Deselect everything with a problem in one action
- A count of how many of the selected files are fully consented
